Veronica H. Monthey “Tauntie”

APPLETON / PORTAGE  --  Veronica H. Monthey “Tauntie”, a long time resident of Portage, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Appleton, WI.  She was the daughter of Jacob and Lola (Raimer) Janda.  Veronica married William Monthey on Dec. 14, 1942.  They were married for 69 years.

Veronica was preceded in death by: her husband, William in 2011, her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Marjorie Janda.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Norma Bush;  sister-in-law and her husband  , Mary (Charles) Bush;  brother-in-law, Harold Monthey;  many nieces and nephews.  She lived in Appleton the last few years of her life to be close to her nieces and their husbands: Charles & Gale Maney and Stephen & Mary Miller.  Her great nieces and nephews, Julie Prudom, Eric Roeker, Marty & Stephanie Organ, and Ryan & Alicia Miller thought of Tauntie as their grandmother.  Her great-great nieces and nephews, Austin & Jacob Prudom, Brandon Roeker, Caitlin and Thomas Organ, and Vivian Veronica Miller were the love of her life and she cherished each and every visit with smiles, cookies, and candy!

For 24 years she worked at Eulbergs in the boys clothing department.  Veronica had a commitment to serving and caring for others which also led to volunteering for many activities.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

The family would like to thank the Affinity Hospice Group of Appleton, WI; along with the dedicated caregivers who helped assist Mary and Gale in caring for Tauntie during these last years.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
