Glen “Jake” N. Jacob

PORTAGE  --   Glen “Jake” N. Jacob, age 89, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Portage.

Glen was born on February 9, 1926 in Courtland Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin, the son of George and Ida (Nelson) Jacob.  He served his country with the U.S. Army.  Glen was a member of both the Portage VFW Post #1707 and Richard Mulcahy American Legion Post #47, Portage.  He was very proud to have gone on the Badger Honor Flight.  Glen was married on December 10, 1953 to Rose Bessey.  She preceded him in death on November 5, 1989.  He had worked at Portage Creamery and then for Russ Hurd Masonry until he retired.  Glen had a great love for his family, and was a very dedicated Grandpa.

He is survived by his children, Leonard (Beth) Drescher, Merrimac, and Renee (Ron) Falkenstein, Pardeeville;  two grandchildren, Court (Laila) Drescher and Stephanie (Jabin) Drescher;  six great-grandchildren, Ella Rose, Sam, Anna and Addie Drescher, Jade and Taylor Babcock;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rose, his daughter, Billie Rose Musson, and ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Kurt Klingbeil officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Portage Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
