Donajo Irvin

POYNETTE  --  Donajo Irvin joined the angels choir on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.  She filled our lives with love, laughter, and music.

The daughter of Dorabel and Lowell Lynch born June 13, 1937, Waterloo, IA (Graduated Rochester Senior High School, Rochester, MN, June 9, 1955)  She was joined in marriage to Jerrold V. Johnson 11-5-1955 Lake City, MN.  They were blessed with four children.  He was called home February 4, 1965.  Dona was married to William G. Irvin May 16, 1970, and settled in Poynette.  Dona’s love of music extended throughout her life and passed on to her children.  She taught piano and dance, worked at the Mayo Clinic, and drove school bus for Poynette Schools.  She and Bill ran a cleaning business, “Irish Washer Woman” for many years.  She was the director of the Poynette Community Choir and UMC Choir.  She and Bill traveled extensively.  More recently a member of Welca. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by her father, mother and sister, Delores Hall, husbands, Jerrold V. Johnson and William G. Irvin.  She is survived by her children, Jerrold H. (Carol) Johnson, Colorado Springs, Darby D. (Robert) Bisbee, Pardeeville, Elizabeth A. (Brian) Lehr, Poynette, and Lowell M. (Rhonda) Johnson, Marysville, Ohio;  12 grandchildren; 11 1/2 great-grandchildren;  her sister, Sharon Boyce.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Pastor Sharon Smith officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Dona’s love of people meant a stranger was soon a friend.  She will be missed and remembered with love.
