Donald D. Hibner

NEENAH / PORTAGE  --  Donald D. “Smokey” Hibner, age 74, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah.

Donald was born on November 12, 1941 in Portage, the son of Vern and Mary (Banks) Hibner.  He served his country with the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany.  Donald enjoyed making wreaths and selling Christmas trees for the family business, Hibner’s Tree Lot.  He had worked for Bank’s Paint Store, and loved fishing.

He is survived by his sister, Mary (Cliff) Sauer, Endeavor;  his nieces and nephews, Ron Sauer, Arizona, Nikki Sauer LaSure (Larry), Endeavor, Tammy Hibner, Endeavor, Terry Hibner Teneyuque, Marshall, and Traci Sauer, Portage;  great nieces and nephews, Alexis and Austin LaSure, Kaylee Sauer, Megan Pendleton, Caitlin Teneyuque, and Aden Daniels;  his sister-in-law, Bonnie Hibner, Portage;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, David Hibner, Maurice Hibner, Kenny Hibner and Richard Hibner.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery, with military honors provided by Portage Area Veteran’s Honor Guard.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.
