Erin Kimberly Cutsforth

APPLETON / PORTAGE  --    Erin Kimberly Cutsforth, age 34, of Appleton, formerly of Portage, was taken from this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

Erin was born on March 12, 1980 in Portage, to Donald and Kristi (Piddington) Cutsforth.  She attended Portage schools and received her GED at MATC, Portage.  Erin worked as an optical assistant at J.C. Penney and Lens Crafters in Madison.  On November 13, 2006, she was blessed with a son, Roman James Cutsforth.  Erin continued her schooling at MATC-Madison and in 2012 received her degree as a medical assistant.  She met the love of her life, Jeremiah Davis, in November of 2012.  On Christmas Day, 2014, they became engaged and began planning their future wedding.  Erin worked at the Boys & Girls Club in Appleton and, most recently, at Vision Mart in Green Bay.

Loving and caring, Erin was an incredibly strong woman.  Diagnosed at age 14 with the sleeping disorder of Narcolepsy, she faced many challenges and met them all.  She was a single mother finishing her medical assistant degree when she broke her leg in October of 2011.  Six weeks later in early December, they lost their apartment in a house fire.  She didn’t give up, she worked harder.  Erin found a new place and was moved in by Christmas Eve.  The following semester she completed her degree.  Her determination was inspiring.  Whatever she did, she gave it her all.  Erin was a devoted mother.  Roman brought such joy and meaning to her life.  Jeremiah is a blessing that filled her life with even more happiness.

Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will be missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her fiancé, Jeremiah Davis and son, Roman Cutsforth of Appleton;  her mother, Kristi (Fred Krueger) Cutsforth of Montello;  her father, Donald (Julie) Cutsforth of Portage;  brothers and sister, Tyler Cutsforth of Milwaukee, Mason (Tanya) Cutsforth of Madison, Erika (Glenn) Olsen of  Waunakee, Michael Ness of Sacramento, California, and T J (Jennifer Walters) Ness of Portage;  her fiancés brother, Jason Davis of Sun Prairie;  maternal grandmother, Donna Piddington Brooks of Sun Prairie, paternal grandfather, Glen Cutsforth of Portage/St. Petersburg, Florida;  her fiancés mother, Karen (Lori Locy) Davis of Appleton;  aunts and uncles, Rona (Roger) Stanton of Tucson, Arizona, Thomas Cutsforth of Portage, Russell (Judy) Cutsforth of Portage, Kristal (Randy Branske) Kleiman of Portage and Anthony (Beth) Larson of San Diego, California;  cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Leon Piddington, her paternal grandmother, Ruth Cutsforth, and step-grandmother, Edris Drake.

Erin was a donor; her gifts of life will live on in others, and for that we thank her.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Portage United Methodist Church, 1804 New Pinery Road, with the Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
