Gary C. Crawford

PORTAGE  --  Gary C. Crawford, age 56, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at his home in Fort Winnebago Township. 

Gary was born on August 24, 1959, in Portage, the son of Charles and Ida Mae (Moss) Crawford.  He graduated from Portage High School in 1977, where he was a member of FFA. He married Julie Lauterbach on May 24, 1980 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Portage.  Julie preceded him in death on November 8, 2013.  Gary worked for Alliant Energy at the Columbia Generating Station for 38 years. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Union #965.  He enjoyed the outdoors and taught Hunter Safety. He loved his tractors and his farming.  His dog, Max, was always at his side. 

He is survived by his children, Christopher (Dana) Crawford, of Portage, Keith (RaeAnne) Crawford, of Portage, and Hannah (Alva Fuller) Crawford, of Endeavor;  six grandchildren, Noah, Lillian, Emmalee and Augustus Crawford, LeighAnna and JewelyAna Crawford;  his sister, Gail (Don) Schultz, of Portage; his nephews, Matthew Schultz and Michael (Kallie) Schultz and their daughter, Pieper; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Virgil) Johnson, Nancy (Tim) Kopfhamer, and Norma (Bob) Healy, all of Portage, other nieces and nephews, near relatives and dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Julie, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Beverly Lauterbach.  

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.  Inurnment will be private.  There will be no other services held.
