Samantha K. “Sam” Bieno - Other Birthday Events

On April 9th, Divine Savior lost a friend. Sam Bieno, daughter of Tivoli Vice President, Jennifer Bieno, and long-time friend and volunteer at DSH, ended her fight with leukemia and took on the next part of her life’s journey….

Jennifer kindly shares with us: “On April 9th at 10:34 pm Sam transitioned to another place. Sam is no longer in pain after three long years. Our lives have been so enriched by the lessons Sam taught us. In the face of adversity Sam always thought of others. When we saw a storm Sam looked to the rainbow. As her family we missed her by 10:35 pm...and we are thankful for the memories Sam carefully worked at crafting. Please remember April 15….”

In honor of Sam and the extraordinary life she lived, DSH would like to offer some ways you can help us remember Sam on Wednesday, April 15th - the day she would have celebrated her 23rd birthday.

• She loved “Build-a-Bear” and making bears for the kids at the Children’s hospital! To carry on her spirit go to the “Build-a-Bear” store in Lake Delton or in Madison at West Towne Mall this weekend (or visit www.buildabear.com to locate a store nearest you) and make a bear to share with kids at UW’s Children’s Hospital. Drop-off site for your bear is at Tivoli’s front desk between 8am and 4pm next Monday and Tuesday and until noon on Wednesday the 15th. If you’d prefer, you may make a donation to the “Build-a-Bear” fund at Tivoli that will be used to purchase Build-a-Bears to be sent to children in intensive care units. Call Cindy Bublitz at Tivoli (745-5900) if you are interested in donating in this way.

• Join us at Tivoli on Wednesday at noon as we release 23 orange balloons in Sam’s honor! Meet in the Tivoli Chapel if you are interested in attending!

• Wear orange on Wednesday, April 15th in honor of our Warrior Sam and her courageous battle against leukemia.

• Sam had also posted recently on her Caring Bridge page requesting people to do a good deed, pay it forward, and say “You have been Sammed!” (Pay for a co-worker’s lunch, buy a stranger a cup of coffee, offer to help your coworker with a project, etc..)

Our hearts go out to those close to Sam as we all mourn the loss of a member of the Divine Savior Healthcare family.
