FORT WINNEBAGO – Leon D. Bass, age 42, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in Fort Winnebago Township.

Leon was born on March 22, 1973 in Reedsburg, the son of Charles and Patricia (Ruda) Bass.  He graduated from Portage High School in 1991, then from UTI Technical Institute in Chicago, and immediately began working at Golz Heating and Air Conditioning, in Portage.  He then worked as a Natural Gas Service Technician for Alliant Energy.  Leon loved spending time with his family.  He was an avid chef often cooking or grilling.  He loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, especially in Canada. Leon was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Portage.

Leon is survived by his wife, Rebbecca, of Portage; his children, Bennett Charles Bass, and Isabell Marion Bass; his mother, Patricia Bass, of the Township of Lewiston;  his sisters, Kathy (Bob) Campbell, and Jerri Bass (Gary) Hansen, all of Wisconsin Dells; his nieces and nephews, Mandy, Brandon, Cimmi, Kenzie, Katelyn, Sara, Brandie, and Alyssa; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Susan Bennett, of Portage; his sister-in-law, Vickie, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many dear friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father, Chuck on October 28, 2000, and his brother, Brian on February 29, 2008.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with Rev. Kurt Klingbeil officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
