Muriel (Agnes) Robson Getchel

PORTAGE  --  Muriel (Agnes) Robson Getchel, age 85, of Portage, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

Muriel was born on January 16, 1930 in Poynette, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clyde and Iva (Cuff) Robson.  She was a 1948 graduate of Portage High School.  Muriel was married on June 25, 1949 to Donald Getchel, who preceded her in death on February 22, 2003.  She loved quilting;  making one for each of her children and each grandchild.  Muriel was a member of Pauquette Word Crafters, and she and Don loved to travel.  She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage.  Muriel had worked at Spurgeons in Portage for over 30 years.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Paul) Schaller, Jefferson, Dawn (Kevin) Johnson, Woodbury, MN, Douglas (Heather) Getchel, Fond du Lac, and Julie (Tim) Davis, Portage;  her grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Schaller, Gretchen (Ray) Thum, Rachael Schaller, Derek Johnson, Ryan (Karin) Johnson, Katie (Jason) LaMott, Jason (Jenny) Getchel, Angella (Ed) Antowiak, Danielle Kasprzak, Jordon Kasprzak, Kari (Greg) Brandt, Adam (Beth) Zimmerman, and Brittany Davis;  21 great grandchildren;  one great great grandson;  her sister, Hild (Ralph) Jacobs, Westfield;  her brothers, Claire (Nat) Robson, Poynette, and Clint (Harriet) Robson, Appleton;  her brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn (Jordy) Getchel, Milton, and Darlene (Robert) Schmidt, Arlington;  several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, a granddaughter, Kirsten Johnson, a brother, Cliff Robson, and a sister, Joyce Schulze.

Private graveside services will be at Leeds Center Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
