James W.  “Wes” Lehr

ARLINGTON – James W.  “Wes” Lehr, age 86, of Arlington, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at his home in Arlington.

Wes was born on May 27, 1926 in Mineral Point, the son of Beaulah (Harker) and James W. Lehr, Sr.
He married Betty Jean Holmes on October 6, 1950, she preceded him in death on January 1, 1984. Wes served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked in Dodgeville and Madison as a carpenter for 42 years. He was a resident of Arlington since 1959; was a Volunteer Fireman and a building inspector in Arlington for many years. He loved his family dearly with a very special connection to all of his grand, great-grand and great-great-grand children. As much as he loved all of us, he was very aware of, and looked forward to joining his beloved wife, Betty, in their heavenly home after 29 years, he is truly happy again.

He is survived by his children, Susan Falk, Jim (Lynn) Lehr, Brian (Liz) Lehr; grandchildren, Nicole Alford, Jennifer Alford, Scott Alford, Cody Falk, Troy (Andrea) Lehr, Kory (Kelly) Lehr, Andrew Lehr, Erica Lehr, Matthew Lehr, Jim Lehr;  great-grandchildren, Kimberly Lehr, Avery Lehr, Hayden Lehr, Alex Lehr, Kiersten Lehr, Tristan Lehr, Grady Lehr, Natalia Lehr, Ariana Lehr, Raven Decorah, Noah Holdener, Kylie Kirk; great-great-grandchild, Keaton Lehr; sister, Laura Kuball; other near relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents, one brother, two sisters, his mother and father-in-law and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Pastor Kathy Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery with graveside Military Honors provided by the Poynette area veterans. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Special heartfelt thanks to very dear friends to Dad, Michelle Colstad and neighbors Mark, Dave and Sandy, who Dad really enjoyed.  We all appreciate their many hours doing whatever Dad needed.

God gives us love, someone to love he lends us.
