Leonard R. Wilson

PORTAGE -- Leonard R. Wilson, age 84, of Portage, died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at American Way Assisted Living in Portage.

Leonard was born on July 15, 1929 in New London, Wisconsin the son of Ralph and Mary (Haskins) Wilson. He served his country with the U.S. Army. Leonard was a truck driver for H. Samuels in Portage for over 25 years. He was a member of St. John’s Choir and had enjoyed delivering meals-on-wheels.

He is survived by his children, Brad Wilson, Portage, Kathy (Wayne) Ross, Arkansas, Jeff (Theresa) Wilson, Portage and Greg (Laura) Wilson, Portage; daughter-in-law, Joan Wilson Portage; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other near relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marlene, his son, James, brothers, Douglas, Howard and Donald, sisters, Aleta Maloney and Berneice Knabel. 

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in Welsh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and School in memory of Leonard.
