Ivan W. Schultz

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP – Ivan W. Schultz, age 84, died on Friday, February 22, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Ivan was born on June 13, 1928 in Merrimac, the son of Frank and Florence (Davis) Schultz.  He married Elizabeth “Betty” Wenger on June 25, 1949 in Merrimac;  she preceded him in death on October 30, 2001.  Ivan had worked as a carpenter and enjoyed building things; he could make something out of nothing.  He also enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, fishing, and gardening.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac.

Ivan is survived by his children, Sandra (David) Fruehling, LaCrescent, MN, James (Kimberly) Schultz, Reedsburg, William (Marleen) Schultz, Columbus, Joanne (John) Chappell, Aurora, IL, and John (Nancy) Schultz, Milton; his  grandchildren, Anne (Mike) Ehlers, Scott (Erika) Fruehling, Michael (Kari) Schultz, Brian (Chrystin) Schultz, Daniel (Katie) Schultz, Tammy (Dustin) Larson, Kimberly Schultz, T. J. Chappell, Randi (Robert) Mele, Noah Schultz, and Nicholas Schultz; 13 great grandchildren;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty, his son, Jeffrey Allen Schultz, a brother, Lester Schultz, a sister, Geneva Sparling, and a grandson, Mark Andrew Fruehling.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac, with Pastor Mary Pharmer officiating.  Inurnment will be private in Merrimac Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Merrimac, WI, in Ivan’s name.
