Timothy J. O'Neill

MADISON- Timothy J. O’Neill, age 46, died on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at University Hospital in Madison after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Tim was born on April 17, 1968 in Portage, the son of Teddy and Linda (Warren) O’Neill.  He attended schools in Montello and Portage.  Tim was a member of the staff of Auto Access of Portage.  He was also a member of BPOE #675, Portage, and many bowling leagues in Portage and Wisconsin Dells.  He played for many area softball teams as well as tending bar at many places in the area.  Tim loved riding horses.  When he was younger he raced thoroughbred horses on the fair circuit.  Prior to returning to Portage he worked at various race tracks around the country.

Tim is survived by his daughter, Madysen O’Neill, Portage, his father, Ted (Sandy) O’Neill, Wisconsin Dells; his mother, Linda (Kent “Buck”) Moulton, Phenix City, AL; his brother, Kevin (Michele) O’Neill, Columbus, GA; his step-brothers and step-sisters, Sally (Bill) Schneeberg, Oxford, Curt (Cassie) Evans, Marshfield, Larry (Kelly) Moulton, Pardeeville, and Mike Moulton, Madison; his grandparents, Jim and Helen O’Neill, Pardeeville, and June Davis Portage; his former wife, Peggy and step-daughters, Ashley Gumz and Kalynn Denman; his former mother-in-law, Sibyl Beirne, Portage; special people to Tim and his family, Jerry Spears, Michelle Q, Julie Ann and Earl, the family would like to thank them for all the help with Tim and his family; he is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  Tim was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Marie Warren, and John Davis, his aunts and uncles, Joan Barton, Patricia (O’Neill) McCarthy, and Marilyn Brant, his niece, Shelby O’Neill, his cousins, John Barton and Jeff Spears, and his former father-in-law, Ron Beirne.     

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Grace Bible Church, www.escapetograce.org, 2939 Cty. Rd. CX, in Portage, with Dr. Steven Corbett officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with a Service of Remembrance by the Portage Elks Lodge held at 5:00 p.m.  Visitation will also be held at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be set-up for his daughter Madysen’s education in care of Ted O’Neill, 3509 CTH G, #62, Wisconsin Dells, WI, 53965.
