Joyce Jerome Martin

LEWISTON TOWNSHIP -- Joyce Jerome Martin passed away on Sunday, May 05, 2013 from ovarian cancer with her family at her side.

She was born in Janesville, WI on August 8, 1941. She graduated from Janesville High School. She married Keith Tripke and had two children, Eric and Karla. She married James Martin in 1967. Together they built a successful security business. Joyce was active in the Martin Hunt Club as the chef. She had a dog breeding business where she raised Labrador Retrievers. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her beloved husband.

She loved to cook and attended MATC, and many short courses in Madison, Chicago, and Colorado.  She enjoyed creating recipes for her friends and family. Teaching her granddaughters to cook was a pastime they all enjoyed. Traveling was a favorite pastime, especially when it involved her New York friends, mostly classmates. Traveling with her grand children to various locations in the Caribbean was a special time. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim Martin; son, Eric Tripke, (Lena) of Madison; daughter, Karla Baye (Tim) of Verona, and daughter, Jennifer Maurer (Warren), of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; step children Julie Lippert, (Lary) Colorado Springs, John Martin (Connie) Sun Prairie; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ron Jerome and stepson, Jeffery Martin.

Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Briggsville Methodist Church with Pastor Julie Wilson officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Hospice.
