Adeline M. Jahn

POYNETTE  /  WYOCENA  --  Adeline Mildred Agnes Jahn, age 94, of Poynette, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

Adeline was born on September 27, 1919, in Arlington, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Paskey) Priem.
She was married to Lawrence H. Jahn on June 2, 1951.  Adeline and Lawrence farmed for over 55 years.  He preceded her in death on May 3, 2013. Adeline had also worked at the Portage Tobacco Warehouse and in the Poynette Canning Factory.  She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leeds.  Adeline was an awesome cook and was known for her homemade angel food cakes, dinner rolls, and pancakes (which her grandchildren loved).  She especially enjoyed her rides around the block visiting with the neighbors.  She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Adeline had a heart of gold, giving, and doing things for others even if it meant sacrificing things for herself.  She was known as Chicky Grandma to her grandchildren due to raising chickens on the farm.

Adeline is survived by her daughters, Karen Adkison, Sharon (John) Stevenson, and Myrna Van Deursen; four grandchildren, Stacy (Jeff) Riechers, Johnny (Kim) Stevenson, Amber (John) Bryan, and Dustin Van Deursen;  eight great-grandchildren, Brianna, Elizabeth, Adeline, Henry, Dylan, Ava, Payton, and Lexi;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, her brothers, Adolph and Bennie Priem, her sisters, Gladys Zellmer, Violet Johnson, and her great-grandson, Bentley Van Deursen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Leeds, with the Rev. Scott Schwertfeger officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

A huge thank you to the staff of the Columbia Health Care Center for their awesome care during Mom’s years as a resident.  It was greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Columbia Health Care Center.

“What a blessing to have had you in our lives.  You were an inspiration to all and will forever live on in our hearts. We Love You.”  Your Family
