Roger H. Haun

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP – Roger H. Haun, age 70, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 27, 2013. 

Roger was born on September 30, 1942, on the family farm in Cashton, the son of Fritz and Annabel (Leis) Haun.  He married Barbara Hintz on May 22, 1965.  He lived in Madison and worked for REA Express until he moved to Portage with his family in 1971.  Roger and his wife, Barbara, owned and operated Bud’s Pizza Inn and Roger’s Catering Service for a combined 30 years.  After selling the business, he enjoyed driving truck for Davis Construction, and spending his winters in Florida.  Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved to spend time at his cabin in Clam Lake, Wisconsin with friends and family.  Roger was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, and the C. W. Henney Knights of Columbus Council.

Roger is survived by his wife, Barbara Haun, Caledonia Township; his children Jeffrey Haun, Portage,  Janet (Peter) Nanni, Winnebago, Illinois, and Julie (Scott) Kapel, Portage; his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Tyler, Clayton, and Colton Kapel, Jessika and Olivia Nanni;  his siblings, Donald (Arlene) Haun, Illinois, Gerald (Audrey) Haun, Cashton, Karen (Jerry) Brettingen, West Salem, James (Toni) Haun, Rockland, Mary (Jack) Mlsna, Mount Horeb, Charles (Sylvia) Haun, Texas, Robert (Beth) Haun, Sparta, and Phillip (Monica) Haun, Wilton;  his in-laws, Gerald (Bonnie) Hintz, Florida, and Roy (Judy) Hintz, New London; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Annabel Haun, and his in-laws, Clifford and Elva Hintz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Private family graveside services will be held in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  A Scripture Service will be held just prior to the visitation on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Health United Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
