Arlene M. Winchell

PORTAGE/POYNETTE –  Arlene M. Winchell, age 76, died on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.

Arlene was born on July 19, 1936 in Sylvan Township, the daughter of Frank and Velma (Jones) Williams.  She had worked at and retired from Stokely Canning Company, Poynette.  She was a member of Poynette VFW Brandt-Pache Post  #10266, Poynette.    

She is survived by her children, Richard (Lisa) Williams, Baraboo, Marianna Williams, Madison, Allen (Mari) Brown, Portage; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Alma Bee, Richland Center, and Ariel (Delbert) Banker, Richland Center.  She is further survived by many other family members and friends.  Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Blaine, a grandson, David Allen, her sisters, Alberta Wickles, Arzineth Peterson, and Anna Ballard, her brother, Allen Williams.  She was also preceded in death by her service dog Lucky who saved Arlene’s life in a house fire.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Rev. Charles I. Case officiating.  Burial will follow in Dekorra Norwegian Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Arlene was preceded in death by two previous husbands, Arthur J. Brown, and Leland Williams.
