Paul W. Weber

 

PORTAGE –   Paul W. Weber, age 86, of Portage, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Tivoli in Portage.

Paul was born on June 20, 1926 in Friendship, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Louise (Stalder) Weber.  He was a graduate of Adams-Friendship High School in 1944.  Paul served in the armed forces from 1944 until 1946.  On February 12, 1949, Paul married Dorothy Jones.  He immediately started work as a railway mail clerk in Chicago.  They moved to Portage in 1951, and Paul finished his working years in the Portage Post Office until his 55th birthday.  He later worked for several years as a driver for the Commission on Aging.  Paul and Dorothy spent many years traveling at their lake lot north of Friendship with friends and family.  Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his accordion.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy;  his sister, Rosalie Jonikas, Chicago;  his sisters-in-law, Thelma Sigourney, Wisconsin Rapids, and Joyce Kirsenlohr, Friendship;  his brother-in-law, Melvin (Donna) Jones; special friend, Tom Melcher, Watertown, and his children, Melissa and Carter Melcher;  other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Frank (Vernell) Weber, his sister, Frieda (David) Johnson, his brothers-in-law, Albert Jonikas, Garth Sigourney, and William Kirsenlohr,  his sister-in-law, Diane Jones, and special person, Tricia (Taylor) Melcher.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Dick Inglett officiating.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Hancock Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
