Lynn Powell

REEDSBURG –  Lynn Powell, age 85, of Reedsburg, died on Monday, December 3, 2012, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie in Sauk City.

Lynn was born on July 6, 1927, in Hillpoint, Wisconsin, the son of Chester and Etta (Johnston) Powell. He was married on May 22, 1948 to Audrey Schirmang.  Together they farmed south of Lime Ridge until they moved to Reedsburg in 1959.  She preceded him in death on June 25, 2012.  Lynn had worked for Schwartz Farm Equipment in Baraboo.  He was an avid sports fan.  Lynn loved to watch and attend many high school games with his brother, Chester.  They also enjoyed going to tractor pulls and playing horseshoes.  Lynn was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg and enjoyed playing Dart Ball. 

He is survived by his daughter, Judi (Ray) Bandeko, Portage;  his daughter-in-law, Mary Powell, Marshall; his grandchildren, Ryan (Jan) Powell, Milwaukee, Aaron Powell, Marshall, Lucas Byington, LaValle, and Lauryn (Ethan) Pixler, Eau Claire;  his great-grandson, Turner Daniel Powell;  his sister, Anita (Leonard) Eckerley, California;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Audrey, his son, Daniel, his brother, Chester, his sisters, Esther and Marge, and lifelong friends, Victor and Lorraine Powell.

There will be no formal services held.  The family will have a private memorial for Dad and Grandpa at a later date.  Inurnment will be private.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
