JoAnna G. Monroe

PORTAGE –  JoAnna G. Monroe, of Honolulu, Hawaii was welcomed home to heaven on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the age of 88. 

She was born on November 17, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Laura (Hills) Gonales.  JoAnna passed peacefully at her home with her beloved daughters, Lori Martos and Diane Lentz by her side.  She was a long time resident of Portage, WI.

JoAnna is survived by her children, Yvonne G. Monroe, California, Diane Lentz (Robert), Portage, Elliott C. Monroe (Kay), Florida, Joni L. Daniles (William), Florida, and Lori A. Martos (Geno), Portage.  Not only was she a loving mother, she was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Monroe, Jr., her daughter, Sandra Rae Monroe, and her son, Bernard J. Monroe.

She was cherished by all.  Although our beautiful mother is now residing in heaven, her request to all her children was that her earthly remains will reside in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Therefore, we are honored to fulfill her last request.  Aloha!!

Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.
