Gordon A. Mitchell

 

PARDEEVILLE / PORTAGE – Gordon A. Mitchell, age 87, of Pardeeville, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo.

Gordon was born on November 28, 1924, in New Haven Township, Adams County the son of Joseph Mitchell and Clara Vanderbilt Mitchell Cleary.  He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy.  Gordon enjoyed his family, hunting and fishing.  He retired from the canning industry after 30 years.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Catherine “Sparkie” Mitchell, Pardeeville; his son, Guy (Tera) Mitchell, Pardeeville; his daughter, Judy Hemphill, Marshalltown, Iowa; his daughter-in-law, Pat Mitchell, Portage; his brother, Jack (Pat) Mitchell, Portage; seven grandchildren; one step-grandson; ten great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Iva Albee, Randolph; two sisters-in-law, Pat Beske, Beaver Dam, and Sue (Jim) Mohr, Waupaca, nieces, nephews and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Billy, five sisters, three brothers, and two step-grandchildren.

Memorial services with Military Rites will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Denise Cole officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
