Tommie D. Weatherwax

MONTELLO – Tommie D. Weatherwax, age 57, died on Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Tommie was born on December 8, 1953 in Sterling, Illinois the son of Lois  (Heckman) and Harold  Weatherwax. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1972 and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in 1980.  He married Becky Fassbender on June 26, 1982 in Merrimac. Tommie taught Math and Drivers Education at Montello High School for 31 years, retiring this year. He was a loving husband and father whose quick wit and good deeds will always be cherished by those who love him. Tommie was an avid sports fan who loved the Packers, Yankees and Badgers.  He was an active bowler for 25 years and served as secretary for many years.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Becky of 29 years; children, Caitlin, Chelsea and Austin; brother and sisters; Vicki Huizenga, Glen (Linda) Weatherwax and Rita (Bruce) Henn; brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, Coleen (Mark) Irgens, Gary Fassbender, Carla Hopkins, Brenda (Tim) Mabry, Tina (Brian) Morgan; nephews and nieces, Michelle (Jason) Krieger, Kiersten (Dan) Birr, Amanda (Ryan Dow) Henn, Lisa (Chad Hellenbrand) Henn, Stephanie (Anthony) Davidson, Allen Irgens, Sarah Hopkins, Carrie (Ryan) Darnell, Hailey Morgan, Hannah Morgan; great nieces, Reilly and Addison; other relatives and many friends. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at the Montello High School with Pastor J. Mark Hensley officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Montello High School and on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the school. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

Tommie leaves behind many loved ones, family, close friends and students that he truly enjoyed his time with.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
