Evelyn W. Keilman

AUBURNDALE /POYNETTE – Evelyn W. Keilman, age 96, died on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.               

Evelyn was born on April 19, 1915, in Fennimore, Wisconsin, the daughter of Oscar and Nellie (Hirsch) Gilbertson.  She graduated from Fennimore High School, and attended Normal School at Platteville.   Evelyn taught in a one room school in Plum Valley in the Fennimore school district, later she worked at Truax Field and for the State of Wisconsin in Madison.  She married Henry Targonski on September 1, 1945, after Henry’s death in 1970; she married Dale Keilman on February 3, 1973.  Dale also preceded her in death in 1987.   Evelyn was a very active member of the Poynette Presbyterian Church;  she loved working with the women of the church doing whatever was needed. Evelyn was also an active member of the Poynette Garden Club and the Lucky 13 Card Club.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Richard) Merkel, Auburndale; her sister, Mildred; her brother, Royce ; many nephews, nieces; grandchildren, Nicole, Ricky, Kelly and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Jared, Mitchell, Hailey, Alyssa and a September surprise.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Henry Targonski, her second husband, Dale Keilman, her daughter, Janet Targonski Kubly and 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at the Poynette Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Strickert officiating.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Poynette Presbyterian Church or Companion Day Service, Inc. in Marshfield.

The family would like to thank Randy and Lori Breu at Comforts Home Assisted Living for their wonderful and unconditional love they gave Evelyn over the last four years.   Also, thank you Sara Riedel and her great staff of volunteers at the Companion Day Services. You all enriched Mother’s last years.
