James W. Hess

PORTAGE –  James W. Hess was born on July 23, 1937 in Milwaukee, the son of Elmer and Mary (Shaw) Hess.  He died Thursday, December 22, 2011, in Portage.

Jim moved to Portage in the 1960’s.  He worked at Badger Ordnance and then joined the U.S. Postal Service where he delivered mail from 1973 until his retirement in 1999. 

Jim is survived by his brother, Robert; his former wife, Jaan Mountford; his son, Donald; step-children; Deborah (Greg) Stein, Daniel (Cathy) Rohner; his cat, Kitty and his dog, Bear, other relatives and many friends.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his significant other, Margaret “Peggy” Loomis.

At Jim’s request, there will be no services.  Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.  

“I was just passing thru, and now that my journey has come to an end, I would just like to say, that was one hell raising trip!  See you all on the other side.  P.S. Bring your own beer!”    Jim
