Ronald L. Bruns

PORTAGE  --  Ronald L. Bruns, age 62, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at his home in Portage after ongoing health problems.

Ron was born on March 1, 1949, in Pelican Rapids, MN, the son of Robert and Muriel (Logan) Bruns.  He graduated from Portage High School in 1967.  Ron lived in Portage most of his life.  He married Elaine York on April 3, 1976, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Portage.  Ron was employed at Jenkins Motors for 18 years, Baraboo Motors, for over five years, and the Kalahari Resort for five years.  He enjoyed golf, fishing, bowling, basketball, fixing things, cooking, and especially spending time with his wife going for walks where they could enjoy nature.  Ron was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He had a sly wit, he loved to laugh and make other people laugh, and he had a compassion that comforted people.

Ron is survived by his wife, Elaine Bruns; his children, Tyler (Vicki) York, DeeAnn (John) Goakey, Jennifer Bruns, and Rhonda (Jaren) Parchem; his grandchildren, Tony, Ryan, Ian, Isabella, Izekeiel, and Alicia; his siblings, Jeannette Mutter, Dee (Jay) Naftzger, and Don (Kim) Bruns, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Muriel Bruns, his brother-in-law, Matt Mutter and his granddaughter, Cassidy Lynn York.

A Memorial talk will be given at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, W10326 State Rd. 16, Portage, WI 53901.  There will be a time to visit from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the talk at 3:00 p.m.  Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
