Dennis L. Baker

PORTAGE – Dennis L. Baker, age 55, of Portage, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at his home.

Dennis was born on December 9, 1955 in Reedsburg the son of Leo and Lillian (Orlando) Baker. He married Barbara Jean McGinnis on June 14, 1980. Dennis had been a Royal Ranger Commander for many years. His hobbies included painting, woodworking, fishing, and he enjoyed his grandchildren. Dennis had a heart for helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Barb of Portage; his mother, Lillian Wysocki, Briggsville; his children, Marissa (Jon) Paulsen, Burlington, Mari (Dan) Burdick, Portage, Derek Baker, Portage; grandchildren, Cheyenne Baker, Alex Burdick, Owen Paulsen, Aaron Burdick; brothers and sisters, Denise (Dan) Huemmer, Bolingbrook, Il, Dan (Terry) Baker, Viola, John Wysocki, Briggsville, Stanley Wysocki, Illinios, Ralph (Helen) Baker, Texas, Kathy Chavez, California; his mother-in-law, Phyllis McGinnis, LaFarge;  other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo and father-in-law, Alfred “Ade” McGinnis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Crosspoint Assembly of God in Portage with Pastor Jon Paulsen officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
