Carl L. Babler

PARDEEVILLE –  Carl L. Babler, age 88, of Pardeeville, died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. 

Carl was born on December 23, 1922, in the Town of Rolling, Langlade County, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Emma (Steber) Babler.  Carl married Barbara Hoppe on August 17, 1954.  He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, in the South Pacific, during World War II.  Carl was a truck driver for Zeloski Farms; he was also employed for many years as a mechanic for Kluck Construction, Portage Magneto, and the Columbia County Highway Department.  He was an aviation and motorcycle enthusiast, and a Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers fan.  In his retirement his hobby was restoring antique tractors.

Carl is survived by his wife, Barbara Babler, Pardeeville; his children, Jim (Susan) Babler, Barron, Kathy (Richard) Lobenstein, Reedsburg, and Ron (Shelly) Babler, Portage; his grandchildren, Josh Lobenstein, Emma Babler, and Clara Babler; his sister-in-law, Merlene Babler, Antigo, special neighbors, Danny and Joanne Barton, Pardeeville, many other relatives and friends.  Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Eugene Babler.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Rev. Charles Chase officiating.  Military Honors will be presented by Pardeeville area veterans.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in Polar, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Home Health United Hospice.
