Garth Todd Anacker

PORTAGE –  Garth Todd Anacker, age 47, of Portage, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011, of natural causes.

He was born on November 23, 1963 in Milwaukee.  On December 27th of that year, he was warmly welcomed into the home of Donald and Idella and sister, Shelley Anacker.  He graduated from Portage High School in June of 1982, and the Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections Pre-service Academy in 1984.  He was employed with the Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections for 23 years, having worked as Transportation Officer for Columbia Correctional Institution.  Garth loved the outdoors.  He especially enjoyed camping and ATV-ing.  Each fall he eagerly awaited the opening of deer season, a passion he shared with his Dad and his hunting buddy, Mike Bennett.  He always loved family holiday dinners and was an avid Packer fan.  On January 13, 1997, he married Joy Baker in Negril.  Garth had a special feel for family, especially children.  The proudest days of his life were December 7, 1999, with the birth of his son, Ryley Garth, and January 12, 2001, with the birth of his daughter Sierra Joy.

Garth will be deeply missed by his son, Ryley of Randolph;  his daughter, Sierra of Randolph;  his mother, Idella Anacker of Portage;  his sister, Shelley (Wamiq) Sattar’ of Ramona, California;  his former wife, Joy of Randolph;  his nephew, Kian Sattar’ of Ramona, California;  his niece, Quill Sattar’ of Ramona, California;  aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Don in 1992.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 850 Armstrong St., Portage, with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating.  Private family burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. on Friday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage.
