Iva J. Thompson

POYNETTE  --  Iva J. Thompson, age 94, of Poynette, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

Iva was born on February 7, 1916 in the Township of Arlington, Wisconsin, the miracle daughter of Henry and Susie (Hanson) Breneman weighing in at only one pound.  She married Leonard W. Thompson on December 10, 1934, and they were blessed with five beautiful children - Sharon, Luann, Rosalie, Leonard, Jr. and Margo - whom they dearly loved.  She and Leonard celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on December 10, 2000 with joy and excitement.  On February 16, 2001, Leonard went to join their Five Angels in Heaven.  Iva was a member of the Poynette United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for 25 years and was a member of the Women’s Group.  She was also on the Sunshine Committee for over 65 years.  Iva was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.  She worked as a volunteer for years at the Poynette Pharmacy.  She also enjoyed visiting the local nursing homes and her handicapped friends. 

Iva is survived by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on February 16, 2001;  her children, Sharon, Luann, Rosalie, Leonard, Jr., and Margo;  her parents;  six sisters;  three brothers;  and her twin brother in infancy. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Pastor Sharon Smith officiating.   Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette.
