 Rodney B. Stewart

PORTAGE  –  Rodney B. Stewart, age 92, of Portage, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home in Pardeeville.

Rodney was born on December 15, 1917 in the Township of Caledonia, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Ruth (Somers) Stewart.  He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II.  Rodney owned and operated the Rodney B. Stewart Real Estate Agency in Portage for many years.  

Rodney is survived by his wife, Janet, Pardeeville;  his children, Michael Stewart, Portage, and Jane (Larry) Wilz, Pardeeville;  his grandchildren, Chelsea (Andrew) Kandel, West Bend, and Lauren Wilz, Pardeeville;  three sisters, Marion Waldenmeyer, Milwaukee, Phyllis Balliet, Portage, and Marjorie Trapino, Lakewood, CO;  a sister-in-law, Shirley Stewart, Ripon;  other near relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Dorothy, his sister, Charlotte McCarthy, his brother, Russell Stewart, two nephews, Brian Balliet and John Trapino, and a niece, Gail Nowakowski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Portage Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by Portage area veterans.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to Home Health United, Home Health United Hospice, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
