Jerald J. Lewis

PORTAGE  -- Jerald J. Lewis, age 70, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at his home in Portage.

Jerald was born on August 13, 1939 in Rio the son of Matthew and Valborg (Landsverk) Lewis.  He served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1962.  Jerald had worked for many years at the Portage Post Office.  He was married on July 25, 1964 to Charlene Roundy at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio.  Jerald enjoyed football, especially the Packers, throwing darts and shooting pool.

Jerald is survived by his wife, Charlene, Portage;  his son, Mark Lewis, Portage;  his daughter, Julie (Scott) Friedel, Portage;  his grandson, Tyler Friedel, Portage;  two brothers, Harold (Clara) Lewis, Newbury Park, California and Robert (Donna) Lewis, Watertown, Wisconsin;  his sister, Mary (John) Waugh, Augusta, Wisconsin;  nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Harold and Sena Landsverk, and his sister, Marcia Sue Lewis Andrews.

Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Military Honors will be provided by the Portage Area Veterans.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Home Health United Hospice.
