Betty A. (Funk) Kopfhamer

PORTAGE  --  Betty A. (Funk) Kopfhamer, age 78, of Portage, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital in Portage, after a brief illness.

Betty was born on December 25, 1931 in Portage, the daughter of Lester and Genevieve (Derr) Funk.  She was married on July 26, 1966 to Roy Kopfhamer.  Betty was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.  She had been a member of the Portage Elkettes, and was a bowling league officer.  Betty had worked as a secretary/aide for the Portage School District, and had owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Portage for over 16 years.  She was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, and enjoyed her summers on Parker Lake.  She also enjoyed reading, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Roy;  her children, Laurie Duffy, Sun Prairie, Michael (Julie) Kopfhamer, Portage, Timothy (Nancy) Kopfhamer, Portage, and Joseph (Beth) Kopfhamer, Sun Prairie;  six grandchildren, Hannah Duffy, Sun Prairie, Robert Wiersma, Jr., Portage, Carilyn Kopfhamer, Portage, Teresa Kopfhamer, Portage, Paige Kopfhamer, Sun Prairie, and Riley Kopfhamer, Sun Prairie;  her brother, Edward (Diane) Funk, Poynette;  other near relatives and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Jim Murphy presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association, or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
