Charleen “Chuckie” L. Gray

PORTAGE --  Charleen “Chuckie” L. Gray, age 71, of Portage, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 at her home.

Chuckie was born on December 11, 1938, in Portage, the daughter of William and Esther (Balliet) Ringhardt.  She married Roger Gray on February 16, 1958.  Chuckie worked in quality control at Flambeau Plastics in Baraboo for 32 years.  She was an owner/operator of The Wedding Emporium with her daughter Kym, in Baraboo for 5 years, and was a greeter at Walmart in Portage for 16 years.  Chuckie had been active in the International Crane Foundation and Girl Scouts.  

Chuckie is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Kym (Michael) Miller; her grandson, Jacobe Miller, all of Portage; her sisters, Doris Willard, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Sadie Hagan, Jamestown, North Dakota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Chuckie was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Benjamin Ringhardt.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Health United for their excellent care of Charleen.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
