John R. “Jack” Gorman

POYNETTE  -- John R. “Jack” Gorman, age 73, of Poynette, died on Monday, August 9, 2010, at his home in Poynette, following a long battle with lung disease. 

Jack was born on September 25, 1936 in Poynette, the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Jeanette (Knuteson) Gorman.  He was married on June 5, 1959 to Mary Louise Martin, at the Poynette United Methodist Church.  Jack was retired from the Poynette School System.  He was a member of the Poynette/Inch United Methodist Church.  In good health, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking;  but most of all, he always enjoyed times spent with family and friends. 

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary;  two sons, Cory (Tammy) Gorman, Poynette, and Jeffrey (Michelle) Gorman, Mt. Horeb;  a daughter,  Karen (Robin) Purcell, Merrimac;  seven grandchildren, Allison and Kevin Gorman, Justin, Madeline, and Colby Gorman, Cameron and Kelly Purcell;  a brother, LaVerne (Vivian) Gorman, Poynette;  two sisters-in-law, Kareen Gorman, Poynette, and Betty Donner, Columbus;  two brothers-in-law, Bill (Nadine) Krigbaum, Fort Atkinson, and Jim Martin, California;  two aunts, Marlyn Eggleston, Pardeeville and Doris Manke, Charleston, Illinois;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Myron Gorman, and his mother-in-law, Sadelle Lietzau.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Poynette/Inch United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sharon Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
