Edwin Francis Blau

TOWNSHIP OF CALEDONIA/PORTAGE  -- Edwin Francis Blau, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at home, after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

Edwin was born on December 30, 1922, in Plain, the second child of Frank and Rose (Ruhland) Blau.  He was married on August 18, 1956 to Clara Priske at St. Camillus, Durward’s Glen.  Edwin was a farmer, his entire life.

Edwin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clara, Merrimac; his six children, Julie (Merwyn) Breneman, Barbara Blau, Richard (Michelle) Blau, Michael (Kelly) Blau, Denise Blau, and Valerie (Patrick) Cotter; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters, other relatives and friends.  Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brent Breneman; a foster brother, Laddie Kout; and a sister, Mary Lange. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City, with Fr. Pedro Escribano presiding. Family graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. in St. Camillus-St. Mary of the Pines Cemetery at Durward’s Glen. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with a Rosary service held at 4:00 p.m.
