Mary Jayne Pafford

POYNETTE/LODI  --  Mary Jayne Pafford, age 79, formerly of Poynette, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Our House, in Lodi.

Mary Jayne was born on August 14, 1930, in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, the daughter of Oliver and Pearl (LeRoy) Johnson.  She married Robert Pafford on October 22, 1945; he preceded her in death on February 29, 2008.  Mary Jayne worked at Badger Ordinance, owned the Country Garden Market in Poynette, and retired from AMPI in Portage.  Mary Jayne loved cooking, sewing and spent many hours on the computer connecting with family and friends.  Her greatest enjoyment came from family gatherings.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, the VFW, and the American Legion Auxiliary. 

Mary Jayne is survived by her children, Jayne (Jim) Barnharst, Arlington, Tony (Laura) Pafford, Arlington, David Pafford, Poynette, Susan Zak, Arlington, and Thomas (Christine) Pafford, Chilton;  14 grandchildren;  10 great-grandchildren;  her sister, Shirley Emerson, Poynette; her brothers-in-law Fred Kilgus of Gales Ferry, Connecticut, and Eugene McKeague, Battle Creek, MI, many close nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Mary Jayne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, her sister, Ruthie McKeague, her sister-in-law, Betty Kilgus, and her brother-in-law, Paul Emerson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, with the Rev. Marion Hendrickson officiating.  Inurnment will be private in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.

The family suggests that memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
