Jeffery N. Hunkel

PORTAGE  --  Jeffery N. Hunkel, age 46, of Portage, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.  

Jeffery was born on December 30, 1963 in Port Washington, the son of Dennis and Joanne (Roemhild) Hunkel.  He was married to Kelcy Graham on May 8, 1992.  Jeffery served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was employed as a Correction Officer for over 20 years at FCI Oxford.  Jeffery was a member of a law enforcement motorcycle club, the Berlin Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his kids.    

Jeffery is survived by his wife, Kelcy Graham Hunkel, Portage; his children, Connor and Courtney Hunkel, Portage; his father, Dennis (Patricia Stucke) Hunkel, Sheboygan; his brothers, Don Hunkel, Deerfield, Christopher (ChongSun) Hunkel, Cabot, AR, and Mark Hunkel, Milwaukee; his nephew, Joseph (Kerry) Hunkel, Middleton, many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Hunkel, and his brother Tony Hunkel.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating.  Military Honors by Portage area veterans will follow the service.  Inurnment will be private.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, and on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at the church.
