Alice Leone Singleton

POYNETTE – Alice Leone Singleton, age 88, of Poynette, died on Friday, May 1, 2009, at her home in Poynette, surrounded by her family.

Memorial services with Eastern Star Rites will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Portage Masonic Temple, 111 W. Conant St., in Portage.  Friends may call on Friday, May 8, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:30 pm at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, and on Saturday, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, at the Masonic Temple, 111 W. Conant St., Portage. Inurnment will be private. 

Leone was born on August 7, 1920, the daughter of John and Floy Jeanette (Cross) Fuller, and was a lifelong resident of the village of Poynette.  She taught school in the Poynette area for over 40 years.  Leone married Donald J. Singleton in Poynette, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1983.  She was a member of the Poynette Presbyterian Church, Queen Esther Chapter #4, Lodi, and Star of Bethlehem Chapter, Portage.   

Survivors include her son, Philip (Diane) Singleton, Salem, WI, daughter, Jan (Mark) Kleist, Poynette; grandchildren, Nichole Singleton, Neil (Becky) Singleton, Marc (Sandra) Kleist, Scott (Lynette) Kleist, Jennifer (Ryan) Kopf, Kevin Kleist, 7 great-grandchildren, many other relatives and close friends.  Leone was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Donald, and her daughter, Donna.
