Germaine E. Ryce

POYNETTE  -- Germaine E. Ryce, age 74, of the Township of Dekorra, died on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at University Hospital in Madison.

Germaine was born on March 5, 1935 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the daughter of Stanley and Bernice (Tetzlaff) Rice.  She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette, and the St. Thomas Christian Women’s Group.  The most important thing in Germaine’s life was her relationship with God, her family, and praying for others.  She was an active supporter of the National Right for Life, speaking out for the unborn.

She is survived by her husband, David;  eight children, Denise (John) Renz, Poynette, David (Libby) Ryce, Reedsburg, Michael (Jan) Ryce, Poynette, Cindy (Mike) Laube, Sun Prairie, Janel (Buddy) Savich, Madison, Gerald (Melissa) Ryce, Poynette, Stephanie (Tony) Orr, Poynette, and Jolene (Jon) Stark, Arlington;  seventeen grandchildren;  her brother, Eugene (Annette) Rice, Oshkosh; nieces, nephews, other relatives, many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Rosalee Rice, and her brother, Ronald Rice.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette, with Fr. Raymond Dischler officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Poynette.  Also, visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

A mother holds her children’s hand for a short while, but holds them in her heart forever.
