Fay Lavold

PORTAGE  --  Fay Lavold, age 92, of Portage, died on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. David Hankins officiating.  Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Silver Lake Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

Fay was born on July 13, 1916 in Jefferson, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carl and Leola Muck.  She graduated from Jefferson High School and also from UW-Whitewater.  She taught at Portage High School from 1963 until 1981.  Fay was married on June 24, 1941 to Maynard Lavold, who preceded her in death on February 9, 1975.  She had been a member of the Portage Country Club, the Portage Curling Club, the Women’s Civic League, the Golden Gossips, the Portage Presbyterian Church, and was an active bridge player.

She is survived by two sons, Steve (Peggy) Lavold, Waunakee, and Chris Lavold, Milwaukee;  three grandchildren, Matt (Nicole) Lavold, Waunakee, Adam (Ann) Lavold, Madison, and Mike (Ali) Lavold, Sun Prairie;  three great-grandchildren, Drew, Mason and Gabe Lavold;  other relatives and many close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Memorials may be made to the Portage Presbyterian Church.
