Sally J. (Pfaff) Jones

PARDEEVILLE  --  Sally J. (Pfaff) Jones, age 72, of Pacific Township, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at her home, after a long and courageous battle with multiple cancers, heart disease and metabolic disease.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, where she was a lifelong member.  The Rev. Jeffrey Teeple will officiate.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

Sally was born in Portage on March 23, 1936 to the late Harlan and Rhea (Behnke) Pfaff.  She graduated from Portage High School in 1953.  On February 23, 1957, Sally was united in marriage to the love of her life, Orin Jones of Endeavor.  From this union their only child and much loved son, Scott L. Jones was born.  Sally and Orin were both employed by GTE (Verizon), which totaled 70 years between them for years of service.  They were very blessed to be able to fulfill many of their travel dreams by visiting all 50 states, Canada, extensively in Europe, and most of the Caribbean, via over 50 cruises.  They also pursued another dream of a motor home to again travel the beautiful country, attend RV Rallies, and visit many casinos and Polka Fests.  Orin and Sally were avid and active members of several RV Clubs, which included Family Motor Coach, WIT Winnebago Tasks Travelers, Good Sam’s, WI State Club, and Northern Lights WITS.  Sally loved to dance, and they both enjoyed many polka fests in many areas of the country.  Also on her list of hobbies were flower arranging, decorating their yard for all holidays and interior decorating. Throughout her life, she was thrown quite a few lemons health wise, but with a determined smile and a laugh, she always made lemonade.  Sally had an elegant, yet down to earth sense of style.  To her numerous friends and family she was known as an excellent friend and companion.  She was honest and opinionated and when asked her opinion, she always obliged.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Orin;  her son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Louann, who were all the loves of her life.  She wouldn’t want us to forget their grandkitties, Tiki and Tyco and her sweet doxie, Gracie.  Also surviving are her brother- and sister-in-law, Herb and Ardyth Jones, Portage;  her sister-in-law, Katherine Moline, Endeavor;  nieces, nephews, three god children, many cousins, and lifelong relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother- and father-in-law, Leland and Marquerite Jones, Endeavor, and her brother-in-law, Al Moline, Endeavor.

The family has suggested memorials to either St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, or the Columbia County Humane Society.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Home Health United Hospice.

Mom, you were the greatest.  We’ll miss you and love you always.
