Violet R. Janssen

 

PORTAGE/BUFFALO TOWNSHIP  -- Violet Rosella (Preuss) Janssen, age 83, of Portage, died on Friday, December 18, 2009 at American Way in Portage with her husband by her side.

Violet was born on June 15, 1926, in the Township of Packwaukee, Marquette County, the daughter of Gust and Hulda (Schmitz) Preuss.  On May 8, 1957, she married Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Janssen at First Presbyterian Church in Packwaukee.  The ministry took her, with her husband, to several states in which they lived, and where she was active in worship services and the Presbyterian Women’s association.  In later years she resided with her husband at their farm near Dalton, and most recently at American Way in Portage.              

Violet is survived by her husband, Rev. Marvin Janssen, her sisters-in-law, Pearl Preuss, Rita Preuss, and Vivian Preuss, brothers-in-law, Vern (Marlys) Janssen, Charles (Gerda) Janssen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends, Phyllis and Allan Turner.  Violet was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Elmer, Orville, Carroll, Norvin, and Loyd, and one sister, Dorothy.   

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Buffalo Community Bible Church in Montello, with Pastor Ronald Larson officiating.  Burial will follow in Underhill Cemetery in Packwaukee Township.  Visitation will be held on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.   The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
