Dean E. Downard

POYNETTE  --  Dean E. Downard, age 57, died on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at his home in Poynette.

Dean was born on January 30, 1952 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Robert and Janice (Whiteneck) Downard.  He served his country with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Dean was married to Janet Thieleke for 29 years.  He had worked at American TV & Appliances.  Dean enjoyed motorcycles and riding.  He was a “Jack of all trades;  Master of none”, and was a fan of country music.  Dean’s spirit animal was the wolf, and he was known as the “wolfman”.

Survivors include his wife, Janet;  his son, Joshua (Heather) Downard, Portage;  one granddaughter on the way, Jaelyn;  his mother, Janice (Whiteneck) Wallace;  other near relatives and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Pastor Sharon Smith officiating.  Inurnment will be private.
