Karen Clemmons

PORTAGE  -- Karen Clemmons, age 63, of Portage,  passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Karen was born on July 31, 1945, in West Allis, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Evelyn (St. Aubin) Wielgus.  She married Tom Clemmons on October 31, 1964 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage.  She retired after many years from GTE-Verizon.  Karen was an avid crafter, especially crocheting. 

Karen is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughters, Susan (Chuck) Mayberry, Panama City, FL, and Cheryl (Donn) Paul, Portage; her grandchildren, Jessica Kelly-Paul, Joshua Mayberry, Nicholas Paul, Bryce Paul, and Thomas Mayberry; her brothers, Bill (Doris) Wielgus, West Allis, Bob (Marlene) Wielgus, Lake Delton, Jerry (Karen) Wielgus, North Lake, WI, her sister, Barb (Ed) Kuhlmey, Trego, WI; a sister-in-law, Faye Wielgus, Portage.  She is further survived by brothers-in law and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dan in 1999, and her brother, Jack Wielgus.

A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with Rev. Dick Inglett officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  

The family would like to especially thank Home Health United for their assistance, and Jackie McGowan for her loving care of Karen.
