Betty L. Busser

PORTAGE  --  Betty L. Busser, age 84, of Portage, died on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena, following a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage, with the Rev. Victor Hillestad officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage.

Betty was born on May 16, 1924 in Portage, the daughter of William and Inez (Jones) Wipperman.  She was married to Vernon “Shorty” Busser, who preceded her in death on January 24, 2000.  Betty worked at the Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Portage for 36 years, at Portage True Value Hardware for 4 years, and she loved all of the kids she baby sat.

She is survived by three children, Linda (Patrick) Solterman, Montello, Bill (Jeanne) Busser, Ohio, and Larry (Vicki) Busser, Merrimac;  six grandchildren, Autumn and Aaron Solterman, Lindsay, Amanda, Andy, and Brianna Busser;  her sister, Ruth Ann Williamson, Coleman, WI;  her brother-in-law, Bill (Margo) Busser, Reedsburg;  her sisters-in-law, Caroline Roelke, Middleton, and Jeanne Wipperman, Nashville, TN;  many nieces and nephews;  other near relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one sister, a brother-in-law, Cliff Roelke, and a son in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena.

The family would like to express thanks to all the angels at the CCHC, especially those on Willow and Birch, for the exceptional care she was given.
