Nils M. Brue

TOWNSHIP OF DEKORRA  /  POYNETTE  --  Nils M. Brue, age 78, of the Township of Dekorra, died on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Lodi Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with the Rev. Sharon Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by Poynette area veterans.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette.

Nils Brue was born on May 12, 1930, in the Township of Leeds, Wisconsin, the son of Julius and Florence (Lee) Brue.  Nils served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.  He belonged to the Clyde Sheppard American Legion Post 271 and the Brandt-Pache VFW Post #10266, Poynette.  Nils worked at Sears as a mechanic until his retirement.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  When he was able, he also liked to play the slots at the casinos.

He is survived by his son, Dane (Roxann) Brue, Poynette;  granddaughter, Nicole Brue, Poynette;  great-grandson, Tobias Brue, Poynette;  step-sons, Rick (Jeannie) Bindley, Cottage Grove, and Brian (Laurie) Bindley, Pardeeville;  step-grandchildren, Katy and Patty Bindley, Cottage Grove and Megan Bindley, Morrisonville;  his sisters, Francis Vangsness, Poynette, Margaret Nelson, Prairie du Sac, Elizabeth (Wilmer) Borde, Rio, and Connie Nelson, DeForest;  his brother, Donald (Peggy) Brue, Poynette;  his sister-in-law, Anna Mae Brue, Tripoli, WI;  many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jacklyn, his second wife, June, his brother, Kenneth Brue, and his brothers-in-law, Clark Vangsness, Lawrence Nelson, and Russell Nelson.
