Mary Lou Marx

 

WAUNAKEE  --  Mary Lou Marx of Waunakee, WI died of cancer on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Hospice Care Inc. in Fitchburg, WI.

She was born February 6, 1936 in Pardeeville, WI, the daughter of Mildred and Orrie Peterson.  Mary graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1954 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Elementary Education.  After graduation, she taught in Ripon and Racine.

On February 26, 1965, she married Gerald Marx, a professor on the staff of Cornell University.  For almost forty years they made their home in Geneva, N.Y.  In 2006, she moved back to Wisconsin, living in Waunakee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Richard Peterson.  Surviving are brothers, John (Gladys) Peterson of Plymouth, WI, and Philip (Dorothy) Peterson of Pardeeville;  nieces, nephews, and cousins.

According to Mary Lou’s wishes, private family services will be held in her memory.  Burial will be in Marcellon Cemetery near Pardeeville.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
