Patricia A. Steger

PORTAGE  --   Patricia A. Steger, age 82, of Portage, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.

Patricia was born on November 2, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of George J. and Mary Cecilia (Brunner) Smith.  She had worked for the University of Wisconsin.  Patricia was married to Granville “Louis” Steger on December 29, 1956.  He preceded her in death.  Pat loved her children, mysteries, her cats, and her house that she worked all her life for.

She is survived by her five children, Mary B. (Gary) Steger-Nelson, San Diego, CA, Louis (Kathy) Steger, Portage, Christopher Michael (Michelle) Steger, Columbus, Robert John Steger, Portage, and Karen Marie (Kevin) Woyak, Eureka, IL;  eleven grandchildren;  four great-grandchildren;  her brother, Ronald (Mary) Smith, Cincinnati;  other near relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Granville “Louis” Steger, eight siblings, and her son, Michael D. Steger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Inurnment will be at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia County Humane Society.
