Herbert William Noltemeyer

POYNETTE/LODI  --  Herbert William Noltemeyer, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lodi.

Herbert was born in North Leeds, on October 10, 1912, the son of William & Minnie (Kleinert) Noltemeyer.  He married Margaret H. Palmer on July 27, 1937.  Herbert graduated from Poynette High School in 1930 and was employed at the Arlington State Bank until the Depression of 1933 closed the bank.  In 1934 he went to work at the Del Monte Canning Company in Arlington and retired from there in 1973.  He was a member of the Arlington Fire Department, president of the Arlington Curling Club and held various offices as a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.  Herbert was very active in amateur baseball and basketball for many years.  He also enjoyed golf, bowling, curling, playing pool and especially playing cards and games with family and friends.  

He is survived by his four daughters, Barbara Noltemeyer, DeForest, Sharon Noltemeyer, Oxford, Sue (Dean) Teeter, Poynette, and Lois Noltemeyer, Stoughton;  two grandchildren, Scott (Joyce Baebler) Teeter, Mosinee, and Christine (Greg) Minteer, Colleyville, TX; three great-granddaughters, Alisha (Ryan) Rosse, Andrea Minteer, and Ashley Baebler; and three special friends, Vila Seefeldt, Jackie Dahms, and Marge Jones, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Noltemeyer, and his sister, Isabelle Bell. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, with Rev. Marion Hendrickson officiating.  Private burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in the Township of Leeds.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Lodi Good Samaritan for the wonderful care they gave while Herbert was there.
