Mary Jane O'Malley Huber

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP  --    Mary Jane O’Malley Huber, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer.

Mary Jane was born on February 14, 1934 at the O’Malley farm in Buffalo Township, to William and Amanda (Ankenbrandt) O’Malley.  She attended Marcellon Stone School, and went on to Endeavor High School, graduating in the Class of 1951.  Mary Jane went to work in May of 1951, after graduation, at C. J. Berst and Armour & Co., which later became AMPI in Portage.  She became Office Manager in 1960, until her retirement in 1998.  On June 1, 1957, she was married to Joseph Huber, who preceded her in death in 1996.  Mary Jane enjoyed her family farm and her own home;  keeping both very beautiful with flowers, trees and an Irish quilt on the family barn, which she designed and painted herself.  She loved dancing and going to various gatherings to meet friends from her lifelong living in Buffalo Township and Portage, and keeping in touch with people from school, work and O’Malley families.  Mary Jane enjoyed snowmobiling and many hunting weekends with her brothers and friends of Joe’s, when she would cook meals for them at the farm. 

Mary Jane leaves her best friend and companion, Harold Johnson;  his children, Lori, Shelley and Nancy and their families;  her brother, Thomas J. O’Malley and his children, Salley (Rob) Kuenstler and their children, Sydney, Christopher, Tyler and Jessica, Thomas G. (Michelle) O’Malley, Jr. and their children, Megan, Skye, Brooklyn and Charlee, and Sarrey (Richard) Foss and their children, Jarrod and Braden;  cousins, and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, and two brothers, Charlie and William.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.

The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.
